CAREER MANAGEMENT SUCCESS - 1 credit
Recommended for grades 9 and 10
All students who want to take graphic art classes MUST take Career Management Success first, no exceptions.
Course content emphasizes the basic skills and knowledge needed for employment success, as identified by industry. Content is presented in a real-world context, providing concrete opportunities for developing personal and career goals, effective communication skills, teamwork abilities, and successful work attitudes.

GRAPHIC ART I - 1 credit
(Visual Communicatioins - 5759)
Recommended for grades 9 and 10

Required Prerequiste: Career Management Success with a C average or higher.
An introduction to all of the standard programs used in the industry with an emphasis on design concepts and photography skills. Projects will be completed that relate to the film, design, print, and photography industries. Course content provides the opportunity to acquire marketable skills by developing leadership, teamwork, and technical skills. A grade average of C or higher is required to advance in the program.

 
 

GRAPHIC ART II - 1 credit
(Digital Design and Imaging - 5760)
Recommended for grades 10 and 11

Required Prerequisites: Career Management Success and Graphic Arts I with a C average or higher.
This class covers the principles of design and the design process. With a concentration on digital manipulation of images for a variety of business needs. Content will cover electronic systems and software programs used in graphic design, page composition, image conversion, and digital printing. Students will concentrate on digital manipulation of photographs and learn indepth digital photography skills.

 
 

GRAPHIC ART III - 1 credit
(Graphic Communications I - 5761)
Recommended for grades 11 and 12

Prerequisites: Career Management Success, Graphic Arts I and II, with a C average or higher.
This course prepares students for work related skills and advancement into graphic design and digital imaging for gainful employment and/or entry into post-secondary education in the graphic communications field. Students will develop portfolios, a resume and develop other marketable skills in preparation for life after high school. Advanced knowledge and skill in the printing industry will be enhanced in a laboratory setting that duplicates the design and printing industry.
