Superintendent Vance's Message to LHS

Dear All,

It was fun to celebrate with you and our students today. Thank you for all of the hard work you do on a daily basis to help our students be college and career ready upon graduation from high school.

Over the past several years we have been recognized quite a bit and our students and educators should be lauded for these accomplishments.  This year we have 5 of our 9 schools that earned Reward School status with 2 others missing by one and two tenths of a point.  We are also an Exemplary School District.  There were 14 districts across the state that have been recognized as Exemplary.  There were also 11 districts that were recognized for earning a level 5 on Value-Added.  Of these districts, there are only 3 districts that were on both lists including Greenville City, Maryville City, and of course Loudon County.  Since 2012, the state has been recognizing districts as Exemplary, Advancing, Satisfactory, and In Needs of Improvement.  During this time, there have been about 17 districts earn Exemplary Status 2 times with several other districts earning it only once.  However, there has only been one district that has earned this status 3 times.  I’m so proud of our team for working diligently to earn the Exemplary status in the years 2012, 2017, and 2018.  You guys are Champions for Education!

I asked our kids to tell everyone they know that they attend a school that is in an Exemplary School District.  I would love for us to be able to do the same thing and tell our friends, neighbors, realtors, and business affiliates about our status and be able to explain that we have one of the best systems in the state of Tennessee.
